When I moved to the area my first priority was finding a club to fit around working full time. From 3 different tee time options on the Ladies Competition day to competitions every weekend and 5 different teams to play in there’s always opportunities to play.

Joining when I was 6, I was aided by the Club Junior Organiser in Junior competitions and matches. Once my handicap allowed, I was encouraged to join in the Ladies competitions and matches. I enjoyed my time as the Club’s Junior Captain in their Centenary Year! This year I am Cheshire Girls Junior Captain

Ladies Section Astbury
Ladies Golf

The Club has a large, active and enthusiastic Ladies Section. Lady members are involved in all aspects of the Club’s administration and management. As a result Astbury was able to be the first Cheshire club to sign up to England Golf’s Women in Golf charter.

The Ladies Section runs competitions each Wednesday and Saturdays from March to October. There are medal, stableford and betterball competitions. On Wednesdays a nine hole qualifying competition is also available. There is an organised Winter League and a weekly Roll-up open to all members in the winter. Over the summer 4 knockout competitions are played with the finals played on the Club’s Finals Day

Club Teams

Astbury Ladies enter 4 Teams into The East Cheshire Interclub Shield (ECICS), which includes a business Ladies Team. There is also a Friendly Team that plays fourball betterball matches against other clubs.

The Ladies enter a team into the County Scratch League and also a Knock out competition run by the Manchester and District Ladies Golf Association.

The Social Side

The Ladies Section operates a buddy system for new members, to ease their way into the club and act as a reference point for any queries. The Ladies Section Competition Handbook is on the website and contains information about how to obtain a handicap, what each competition involves and how to enter.
