Astbury Centenary - we've had some special visitors

In our Centenary Week of celebrations we were delighted to welcome a Club Favourite and friend of Astbury - Tommy Fleetwood.

Tommy dropped by for lunch with his family and was "very impressed with the work" we have done in line with the Centenary. Sincere thanks to Tommy and his family and for taking the time to chat to various members of the club and staff and have some photos taken. Club Junior Captain Eryn was "made up" to meet one of her heroes.

Quoting from The Congleton NUB news .... leading to a Piece on Granada ITV news.

A four stanza poem has been penned in honour of Astbury Golf Club, on Peel Lane, which has just turned 100 years old.

Only a golf loving poet could capture the joy of Astbury's course in Congleton with its lush tree lined fairways, ponds, impeccably manicured greens and a lay-out divided by the gently flowing waters of the Macclesfield canal.

So step forward one of the club's 700 plus members John Hunter, who made his literary debut at the age of 71 last year with a book of 41 poems published on Amazon – Words Speak Louder Than Actions.
